''Earlier I mentioned how some artists have the ability to make something truly special in the raw black metal category, and Blood & Prosperity is a prime example of this. The first track ‘Misanthropic Nature’ starts out with that standard tremolo picked affair, but as those lovely drums kick in, the real meat of the track begins to flesh out. As the first verse of the song carries on the tone immediately changes, and you start to pick up on the subtle nuances that have been incorporated into the recording. These melodic undertones flutter wistfully underneath the main riff and bring out a depth into the music that really makes this release shine. And yet again, those DRUMS! Precise, syncopated and crisp. If you haven’t noticed, I’m still only talking about the first track.
‘Sculpted By The Sea’ comes in as our second offering on this extended play, and it comes in hot with more use of that razor sharp guitar riffing. It’s no surprise that I’m in love with the drumming on this EP, and ‘Sculpted By The Sea’ is no exception. The drums come in blasting in a heavy, pounding cadence that lends itself nicely to the churning riffage this track brings. The whole song will have your head banging from start to finish.
Diving into the third track ‘The Vulture Flies Above’, we’re met once again with the enduring pace that has been set so far in the first two tracks. Consistency at its finest – never a bad thing when it’s done properly. At around the 2:00 mark, things actually begin to slow down a bit and become a bit more ethereal, more enchanting; almost to a level reminiscent of some great doom metal, but things do start to pick back up and the pace begins to quicken for what would remain of the track. One thing I feel I haven’t given enough credit to on this release is the vocals. Ombrage’s lead vocals being done by the talents of Witchkiller add such a ghastly layer of atmosphere to this EP as a whole and truly make for an unforgettable performance from start to finish.
Speaking of finish – the final (and what may probably be my favorite track) is ‘Victorious Dead’. An instrumental track that absolutely flourishes with an exciting, organic sound with beautifully melancholic riffing; and lets not forget about those fantastic drums. This track is one I’ve found myself listening to on repeat for hours. It really does flow that well.
All in all I believe that Blood & Prosperity is the best thing Ombrage has graced us with to date. However, if the trend continues, things are only going to get better from here on out. Please do yourself a favor and pick this and the rest of his discography up from Bandcamp.''

Incredible how one man can compose such a thing. Beautiful. Today's one-man bands (or projects) are to me contemporary composers comparable to those from the old times like Wagner, plus they are their own orchestra... WolfGang

This is a really nice piece of black metal, i totally love it! Although nothing avantgarde, it has some unique flava' of its own. I mean, it's on repeat for a few hours now. \m/ BVCVLEI

Ice cold black metal with riffs that will certainly get you frosty even in the summer. Plenty of potential and they are definitely an artist I'll keep my eye on. brandonp504
